Bruno Independent Living Aids Awarded Contract from Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs has notified Bruno Independent Living Aids, Oconomowoc, Wis., that it is the successful bidder on the Department's Solicitation Solicitation for its Wheelchair & Scooter Lift Vehicles contract.

Eight companies bid on the contract, and while four were given portions, Bruno's award has a total value of $83.5 million over a five-year period, approximately 91 percent of the entire contract.

With a base contract period of Sept. 25, 2006, through Sept. 24, 2007, the specific items awarded Bruno include manually operated wheelchair carriers for manual chairs, power-operated lifts for scooters, interior power-operated lifts for power chairs and trunk lifts for manual wheelchairs. Bruno will utilize specific dealers from its network of more than 1,500 to handle VA purchases of these products.

Vice President of Operations Tom Jacobson said that as a strategic business component, the VA contract, "confirms our ongoing and significant investments in product development, capital equipment and employee training and education."
