H.R. 3790 at 176 Co-Sponsors

Associations call on HMEs to continue push for bill that would end NCB.

H.R. 3790, the bill introduced by Rep. Kendrick Meek (D.-Fla.) that calls for the repeal of CMS’s national competitive bidding program, now has 176 co-sponsors.

This puts the total number of lawmakers signing onto the bill since the start of last week’s Washington Legislative Conference at 27 additional lawmakers.

New Representatives recently signing onto the bill include:

  • Robert Andrews (D-N.J.)
  • Gresham Barrett (R-S.C.)
  • Christopher Carney (D-Pa.)
  • Susan Davis (D-Calif.)
  • Walter Jones (R-N.C.)
  • Steve King (R-Iowa)
  • Christopher Lee (R-N.Y.)
  • John Lewis (D-Ga.)
  • Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.)
  • Tom Price (R-Ga.)
  • Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.)
  • Jeff Miller (R-Fla.)

That said, both the American Association for Homecare and the National Association of Independent Medical Equipment Suppliers called on providers to continue their industry-wide lobbying push to convince lawmakers to sign onto the bill.

“It is imperative that HME advocates continue to push hard to educate their members of Congress about the misguided bidding program and add cosponsors to H.R. 3790, which would eliminate the program in a fiscally responsible manner,” AAHomecare said in its public statement.

“The emphasis on jobs and small business as well as access seems to have struck a cord,” NAIMES said in a similar public statement. “Keep beating the drum.”
