To bring the HME industry perspective to the larger world of electronic health data and information technology, software maker Brightree LLC has joined the CommonWell Health Alliance, an IT trade association working to create universal access to health care data.
Brightree is CommonWell’s first dedicated post-acute member. Given how fast post-acute care and in-home care is growing, Brightree’s inclusion in the association which should help expand the HME industry’s role in healthcare as a whole. This will hopefully open new opportunities for in-home health IT access for patients and their clinicians, according to a statement from the association.
“Brightree is dedicated to representing the post-acute care community’s desire to help our nation reduce the cost of care while improving patient outcomes,” said Dave Cormack, president and CEO of Brightree. “We believe the Contributing Membership gives us the highest level of involvement to ensure the unique workflows and needs of home health, long-term care and hospice providers are considered in setting new data-sharing standards across the complete continuum of care.”
Brightree, along with another new member, MacPractice, join founding members Allscripts, athenahealth, Cerner, CPSI, Greenway, McKesson and Sunquest, contributing members CVS Caremark and MEDHOST, and service provider RelayHealth.
