DME maker Drive Medical has acquired Primus Medical, LLC, a manufacturer of long-term care beds and related products.
Primus manufactures full-function low beds, bariatric beds, lifts and chairs, therapeutic air and foam mattresses, lifts, slings and safety products. The acquisition provides Drive with a complete portfolio of long-term care beds, and will help position Drive in the rapidly growing long-term care market.
“With Drive’s broad-based product offering and the addition of the Primus long-term care beds, Drive will now be able to offer a full array of long-term care products,” said Harvey Diamond, chairman and CEO of Drive Medical.
Mark Shaw, president and chief operating officer of Primus and Dan Halas, vice president of sales for Primus, will join the Drive management team. Tony Crisitello, Drive’s senior vice president of long-term care, will be directing the combined sales and marketing activities of Primus and Drive’s long-term care division in North America.
“This partnership will provide significant opportunities for the Primus customers,” Shaw said. “They will now enjoy the value that comes with an expanded portfolio of products, significant resources, market expertise, and an extensive distribution network throughout North America. We are excited to become part of the Drive family of companies.”
“Primus Medical represents an important component of the growth strategy for our long-term care division at Drive Medical,” Crisitello added. “We are excited to have both Mark Shaw and Dan Halas joining our long-term care management team.”
