National power mobility provider The Scooter Store has unveiled an internal division focusing on homecare equipment, accessories and related services that it intends to eventually take national.
Scooter Store’s new Home Care equipment division will be based in New Braunfels, Texas, and operate out of the Scooter Store’s national. The company says the new unit will leverage its infrastructure, systems, processes, customer intake, compliance management, revenue cycle management, and national distribution and service capabilities.
The company says it will launch the division in a multiple phases. Initially, Home Care will focus on targeted markets with a select portfolio of homecare equipment items, and eventually will expand into the Scooter Store’s full national footprint with a wider range of products. The company says the new division’s expansion will also leverage strategic relationships with licensed and accredited partners.
Heading the Home Care division will be Scooter Store’s Chris Bailey, who will serve as Vice President of the new division. A licensed Vocational Nurse, Bailey joined the company in 1999 and has held vice president-level positions since 2006.
The creation of the Home Care equipment division is a natural progression for the company, building on its historical efforts and experiences. As it stands, the Scooter Store currently has ecommerce and direct sales organizations that sell some homecare-related items. The company says it also has 59 retail store locations, which are expected to promote additional Home Care division items and related services as they are offered.
The move also formalizes a team that company says has been operating for many months, building a business plan, negotiating third-party relationships, and providing manual wheelchairs, walkers, patient lifts, nebulizers, hospital beds, support surfaces and accessories in targeted markets for insurance reimbursement. Additional items will be added in coming months.
“Our long-term vision and goal is to give every senior or disabled American the ability to live their entire life safely and confidently at home,” said Doug Harrison, founder, chairman and CEO of The Scooter Store. “To fulfill that goal, our company must evolve beyond providing just power mobility solutions, and focus on meeting the holistic needs of our customers and their caregivers.”
